Linda Strickland and Curly mare Blazing Velvet

I am very sorry to say that our good friend, Linda Strickland, passed away this December 4th at 5:00 AM of lung cancer. Many of you personally knew Bill and Linda and may have visited or spoken with them on the phone. I must say that no matter when we called they were happy to talk and happy to show their horses to anyone who stopped by. Many times interrupting their chores and meals. It was Bill and Linda who we can attribute most of our Curly Horse beginnings to. They sold us our two mares and our first baby was sired by The Red Baron, their foundation stallion. Many of their horses and burros are for sale and you can read all about them later in this newsletter.

When speaking with Bill after Linda’s passing, he told me the following. They bought their first Curly, Blazing Velvet, in about 1984 from KC Missouri. It caused Linda to quit her job to be with Velvet. He says almost all experiences with their Curlies were wonderful ones and that all their horses are special. Linda started the newsletter many years ago due to people requesting that she do so. Linda was a great, creative editor, as is shown in the enclosed Christmas Poem that she wrote. I liked it so much that I went and dug it out specifically for this issue.

I will end with please keep Bill and family in your prayers and thoughts, tell other horse lovers about the horses/burros for sale, and Bill, we thank you for all you have done for us Curly Horse lovers.

Sincerely, Yours in Curl, Linda
